Tournaments in Dawson, Whitehorse, Haines Junction, Fairbanks and Juneau Alaska.

In 1997 the Dawson City Nuggets (Dawson's all-star Old-timers team) travelled to Ottawa via dog-sled, skidoo, boat and train, to challenge the Ottawa Senators Alumni in the Corel Centre to a re-creation of the 1905 Stanley Cup when Dawson challenged Ottawa. Over 6000 fans were in attendance at the Corel Centre in Ottawa!

Figure Skating: lessons for kids.

Curling: New arena completed in 2001. Lessons (kids and adult), leagues, bonspiels.


Down-Hill Skiing: at Moose Mountain, a 3 run ski hill. T bar. Ski and Snowboard rental and lessons (kids and adults). New log ski chalet with the best view in Dawson! Volunteer run. Open most weekends in the winter, temperature dependent. Great place to learn to ski! Family weekends such as Sno-Lympics in March with ski, snowboard, toboggan and GT races.
 


Back-country skiing: available in the pristine Yukon wilderness at mountain ranges on the Dempster Hwy, Skagway summit and Haines Summit.


Dog-mushing and skijoring:
Many local mushers. Short, medium and long distance races. Most famous is the Yukon Quest (toughest dog sledding race in the world. 1000 miles between Whitehorse and Fairbanks with 36 hour lay over in Dawson) Mid Feb. Lots of opportunity to volunteer at Dawson check point. www.yukonquest.com

For those of you unfamiliar, skijouring is cross-country skiing while being harnessed to 1 or 2 sled dogs. Limitless trails. Skijouring races every March on the Yukon River.
 


Skidooing:
Limitless wilderness skidooing around Dawson, the Dempster Highway and the Top of the World Highway.Organized treks between Tok, Alaska and Dawson over the Top of the World trail. Dawson hosts approximately 200 skiddoos from Alaska each weekend for 3 weekends in Feb and March.

Ice Fishing: on nearby lakes for trout and ling cod.

Indoor soccer, aerobics, badminton, yoga, kickboxing.

Community weight room (year round).
 


Cross-country Skiing:
Limitless trails along the Yukon and Klondike River following skidoo and dog mushing trails. Approximately 10 km of groomed trails, based on volunteer grooming.
